When I arrived in Iraq, I saw that students had a wide range of knowledge of structures and rules. They were good at theory. However, they couldn't perform effectively when it came to applying and practicing what they knew already. So, they didn't seem to me to be happy or satisfied with what they were doing. I wanted them to understand what was missing to complete the whole picture. That is why it was my purpose to try to encourage and motivate my students to apply what they knew.
My short-term goals would be like the following. To have my students acquire what they learned earlier so they can improve their selves easily and develop an enthusiasm for practicing more. My long-term purpose is to get them to grasp the meaning that we don't study and learn for the sake of exams and getting degrees. We study and learn to acquire some fundamental skills to apply in the real world and take our skills with us to go forward and improve ourselves.
